Clyde Dritt Pope, Jr. passed peacefully into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Friday, December 17, 2021, at the age of 81. He was born on September 13, 1940, just minutes before his twin sister, Doreen, to Clyde Pope, Sr. and LaNelle Looney, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He grew up in Tulsa, graduating from Central High School, before attending University of Arkansas for two years, moving back to finish his degree in Architecture at Oklahoma State University. Following college, Clyde served in the United States Army. Clyde had a successful career as an architect and was licensed in 48 states. He designed/built many of the original 7-11 convenience stores in the 1970’s for Southland Corporation and had a distinguished 30+ year career in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas.
Besides his family, Clyde’s other two loves were golf and his saxophone, both of which he enjoyed all throughout his life. He is remembered for his humor by all, and his excellent costumery at Halloween by the neighborhood children. Before moving to Fayetteville to be near his son and family, he and his wife were regular members of Evergreen Baptist Church in Tulsa.
He is survived by his spouse Pamela of 58 years; his twin sister, Doreen McCormick of Alabama, his half-sister “Nubby” LaNelle Errickson; his son Craig Sr. and wife Tabatha of Texas, his son Brian and wife Heidi of Fayetteville, his grandchildren Tristan, Craig Jr., Paxton , Justin, Paiden and Bailey, and two great-grandchildren, Teagan and Vera Knoll; nephew Carrington McCorrmick of Alabama, nephew Stephen McCorrmick of Florida, niece Stacey Burton of Kentucky, niece Andrea Stafford and husband Corey Mauser, niece Sally Stafford ; nephew Sean Harper; and many beloved cousins, friends, and former church family members. Clyde is preceded in death by his parents, and his step-parents, Helen Pope, and “Smitty” Smith.
A memorial service will be held at the Fellowship Bible Church of Northwest Arkansas at 1051 W. Pleasant Grove Rd. in Rogers, AR on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 2pm with a reception to follow. Clyde loved his Church.
